The ingredients needed to make Field Peas:
  1. Take 12 oz dried field peas
  2. Take 3 chicken bouillon cubes
  3. Get 1 T garlic powder
  4. Make ready 1 tspn salt
  5. Prepare 1 T red pepper
  6. Make ready 1 Cup onion minced
  7. Make ready 2 T bacon grease
  8. Make ready Tabasco - 8 shakes

Instructions to make Field Peas:
  1. Boil the peas for 2 minutes, drain, & cover with 2" water, sit for 4 hours minimum
  2. Drain & just cover the peas with water, add garlic powder, salt, bouillon, & Cayenne. Bring to a low boil & let barely bubble for an hour
  3. Saute the onion in bacon fat until just tender & add to peas
  4. Turn heat up to medium-low & cook until peas are tender to preference, check seasoning
  5. After they're added to your meal, they can be frozen! I pour them into Styrofoam cups to freeze dinner portions & easy defrosts.
